DESIGN TECHNOLOGY
At Brewers Hill we believe that technology should
be exciting, challenging and encourage pupils
to develop a sense of pride in their work. Whilst
meeting the needs of the National Curriculum,
the Technology course provides pupils with a
varied range of activities in order to stimulate their
imagination, inventiveness and creativity.
DT is my favourite lesson
because its fun to cook and it
means that you can make it at
home too. Teachers make learning
easy and fun.
Emily Field, Yr. 6.
I enjoy Brewers Hill Middle School
because I have lots of friends and
great lessons. My best lesson is
DT because I like painting, drawing,
colouring, cooking and woodwork
and I like the teachers who teach
the lessons.
Rachel Room, Yr. 6.
Our pupils are provided with knowledge and
practical skills that can be applied to design
problems through the use of food, fabric and
resistant materials such as wood, metal and
plastics. Some of the many practical activities on
offer within the Technology department include
electronics, use of hand and machine tools,
modelling, food preparation of a wide range of
dishes, recipe development, screen printing, batik,
appliqué and tie dyeing.
Pupils also have the opportunity to investigate,
disassemble and evaluate existing products.
