Over the four years at Brewers Hill, pupils will gain experience in using ICT for communicating and handling information in a variety of forms, data handling, information systems and the control and modelling aspects of Information Technology. By the end of
their four years at Brewers Hill it is hoped that all pupils will be proficient and confident in the use of ICT and be able to take advantage of the benefits this can bring to their studies.

INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

ICT exists as a separate subject in the National Curriculum. All pupils, in all years throughout Brewers Hill, have a dedicated lesson of ICT each week.
All pupils now have access to a high quality and large range of hardware and software. The school’s two ICT suites have a network of over 50 PCs linked by broadband to the internet. In addition, a
smaller suite of 10 computers has been set up for the use of Success Maker. This is an integrated learning system designed to improve basic literacy
and numeracy and to enhance the learning of the gifted and talented.

"Considerable expenditure on the
provision of equipment for information
communication technology has resulted in
pupils having access to computers in all
subjects and provision is good."

OFSTED Inspection 2007

We have further developed ICT in the school by installing Interactive Whiteboards (N.B. all teachers have a laptop computer and every classroom can be wirelessly connected to the internet). We also have two laptop trolleys with sixteen laptops in each.
These are available in classrooms and pupils are able to log on to their private workstation, send print requests to the ICT room and access the internet. Pupils are given the opportunity to use the skills and knowledge gained in their ICT lessons to support their work in other subjects across the curriculum.
